The\u00a018th Congress of the Italian Society of Corneal Transplants\u00a0<\/strong>(Sitrac) has just taken place at Padova Congress Center. This meeting brought together over 1,200 specialists in the sector for an important occasion to share knowledge and the latest updates.<\/p>\n

The event offered attendees a unique opportunity to learn more about the latest techniques in corneal transplantation, with the chance to watch 16 surgeries broadcast live from the operating rooms thanks to the advanced technologies of Padova Congress.<\/p>\n

Leading the proceedings was Professor Alessandro Galan<\/strong>, director of the Ophthalmology Unit of Ospedale Sant\u2019Antonio, one of the national excellences in the field of ophthalmic surgery. In 2024 alone, Sant\u2019Antonio\u2019s Ophthalmology performed 80,000 services, ensured 16,000 instrumental examinations and performed nearly 4,000 cataract surgeries, as well as 132 corneal transplants. Special attention was also paid to pediatric patients, with more than 3,750 treatments performed, including a delicate surgery on an infant less than one year old.<\/p>\n

During the congress, space was also given to the latest innovations in the field of corneal transplantation, with papers and breakout sessions featuring national and international experts.<\/p>\n

Padua hosted the Sitrac Congress for the second time, following the 2014 edition, confirming it as a reference point for education and innovation in ophthalmology. The success of the event reaffirmed the importance of continuous discussion among professionals in the field to ensure increasingly advanced and accessible care for patients.<\/p>\n
